“We are but specks in the history of the universe.”

As we come out of the dark times of Covid-19 and move back to a more normal time, I reflect on a personal life goal that I achieved five years before.

One of my life goals was to run a half-marathon and cover this in under 3 hours. While many of us run and do marathons, this was a personal struggle for me. It required months of effort, battling my mind and fighting the demons within. We ran evenings, mornings during the training. I ran 11 miles in 2 hours or so. Sometimes a mile was a jog, and sometimes it was an eternity. On the race day, it was a mix, and the satisfaction of achieving the goal was eternal. The pain never lasts, and it didn’t matter for me as well.

“We suffer more in mind than in reality.”

What we can achieve vs. what we imagine we can achieve turns out to be very different. We know it. We still give in to our mind’s struggles. As you read this, think of a barrier that your mind has created for you that you know you can break, and ask yourself, when can you start?

Cheers,
Ravi.
